F.A.Q.s
Question -
Why do I have to take the introductory class?
Answer - These classes are two 1-hour
lessons that will teach you the basic exercises
required to safely participate in our boot camp. We are not
teaching you how to use Cybex machines at the local gym. You are
getting specific training from our instructors.
EVERYONE who joins our boot camp
is required to take the
introductory classes.
This is for several reasons. The first reason is SAFETY. Peak
Fitness Boot Camp uses complex movements and we want to make
sure you are able to perform them properly before you join our
boot camp.
The second reason is that if you
join our boot camp and cannot perform the basic exercises
properly, then our trainers will have to spend a majority of the
class working with you and will not be able to give proper
attention to the other boot campers. This isn't fair to our
other participants as our goal is to provide supervision for ALL
boot campers.
The final reason is YOU!
We know that starting a new activity is not easy. We want you to
feel comfortable with the basic exercises and equipment in our
facility so that when you start our boot camp, you will not feel
overwhelmed or frustrated.
Question -
When do the introductory classes take place?
Answer - These classes take place the
last 2 Saturdays of every month at 8:30am.
Question - Can I
still join if I missed the introductory classes?
Answer -
Unfortunately no. You must wait until the next session. Due to
our full schedule, there is no time to make up the class and as
stated above, the class is required for your safety and the
benefit of the other boot camp members.
Question
- What do I need to do to get started?
Answer - All you’ll need is a hand
towel, a water bottle (we also have bottled water available for
$1), running shoes, loose & comfortable clothing, and a great
attitude! No need to spend extra money on your own weights or
tubing because we supply everything for you!
Question
- What’s a typical boot camp
session like?
Answer - This is not a cookie cutter
workout! We do not repeat any workouts during your 4 week boot
camp session. We change the duration, number of exercises and
resistance to keep your interest and curiosity levels high in
anticipation of the workouts. We start with a dynamic warm up
using total body flexibility exercises to prepare your body for
the upcoming session. Our boot camp consists of exercises
performed at 6 stations which focus on both cardiovascular and
strength training and then we finish with stretches to cool the
body down. In addition, you will enjoy the combination of
personal attention and social interaction that our partner
format allows.
Question - I have not exercised in a
long time and am looking to get back into shape. Will Peak
Fitness Boot Camp be too much for me?
Answer - While it may be challenging for
you, we pride ourselves in helping each and every individual
complete the bootcamp safely! Our emphasis has always been and
always will be getting people fit and healthy as safely as
possible. We understand that every individual is different (we
have participants from age 17 - 72 in our boot camp!) and
will tailor the workouts to fit each scenario. It may take you
4-6 weeks to become acclimated to our format, but you will be
successful if you stick with it!
Question
- I am recovering from a recent injury. Is Peak Fitness Boot
Camp going to be safe for me
to participate in?
Answer - We are licensed Physical
Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants. Rehabilitating
injured people is what we do for a living! We will find a way
for you to complete each exercise safely and progress each
individual at their own pace. If we feel it is unsafe for you to
participate in our bootcamp, we will be honest with you and
recommend either returning to physical therapy or looking into
one-on-one training.
Question -
What if I physically can’t perform a
certain exercise?
Answer - We will give you a modified
version of the exercise as an alternative to strengthen your
body so that you will be able to progress towards performing the
actual movement. Our knowledge as physical therapists gives us
the ability to allow you to complete the workout without
increasing any pain you may have due to painful joints or
limited range of motion. In most cases, people experience
a decrease in pain as strength increases and weight
decreases!
Question
- If I miss a class, am I allowed to make it up?
Answer
- We are one of the few boot camps that allow make ups, but only
during the week it occurs and only if we have available openings
in other classes. For example, if you can't make a Monday class
but would like to come on Tuesday instead, that would be ok
unless our Tuesday class is full. If you can't make it to
another available class by the end of the week, then you forfeit
the missed class.
